This is again based on the fact that skin treatment creams are easier to use on the infected area. Nevertheless, in cases where skin needs to be cleansed using a medical product, lotion is a better alternative. Largely, the manufacturers too realise this fact, making it easier for you to opt between a lotion and a skin care cream

Eye-creams and anti-aging creams are other examples where skin care cream is preferred over its lotion counterpart.
